Nicolae Ceaușescu (/ tʃ aʊ ˈ ʃ ɛ s k uː /, Romanian: [nikoˈla.e tʃe̯a.uˈʃesku] ; 5 February [O.S. 23 January] 1918 – 25 December 1989) was a Romanian communist politician and dictator.
